Bioscience research will continue to growĪnd the Phoenix Bioscience Core - a 30-acre district in downtown Phoenix that integrates all three of our universities and outside partners to drive bioscience innovation - will grow with new investments and strategies for collaboration, leading to new health care startups and economic growth. This fall we will announce how we plan to grow these programs to address our workforce shortages - particularly in rural Arizona. Northern Arizona has already produced a large volume of Arizona’s nurses and allied health professionals. We will also ask UArizona to leverage its extensive rural health network, as well as telemedicine, to help ensure health care access in every corner of the state. The result: a higher standard of care for Arizonans and a goal of doubling the volume of new medical doctors. In Tucson, the University of Arizona and its partner - Banner Health - are forging the College of Medicine and Banner University Medical Center into a fully integrated academic medical center, bringing together nationally recognized researchers with clinical programs of distinction.

The plan includes major growth and new investment by each of our state’s public universities, significant partnerships with the private sector, and the support of state government. This is a bold, comprehensive health care initiative for Arizonans.
